This lovely pattern by Scarlett Rose features 3 different interlace style designs for appliqué or hand embroidery. For the appliqué version, make your bias strips from three different fabrics that coordinate with the border fabric, pulling the colors from the multicolor print you’ve chosen. If you’re making the embroidered version, use the stem stitch, backstitch, sashiko or the twilling stitch to embroider the 3 blocks that will be set together with a pleated flange, lattice strips and border. There are instructions and illustrations for both versions!
Learn how to make your own bias by two different methods, for hand or machine applique. Find out about a new technique, Inklingo, which uses your inkjet printer to mark the designs onto the background squares accurately, and lets you make blocks in different sizes!
“San Kamon” means “three family crests” in Japanese!
