McGibbon's arrangement of the song tune, for violin, oboe (hoboy), or German (transverse) flute appeared in his Collection of Scots Tunes, Edinburgh, 1762.

The figured bass is identical to that published by James Oswald twenty years earlier. The tune and the first three variations is the same in all but minor details; the minuet variations are not in Oswald's version.
