The language process refers to the way an individual uses words to communicate his or her ideas and feelings, and how such information is understood. A strategy that I would use is to clarify the language for students. I will ensure that students understand by speaking slowly, using simple sentences, reading to them, and provide opportunities for students to discuss and react to what was read. This allows the students to use words, express themselves and also assess if they understand. Another strategy I would use is to put words into practice. When students can practice it enhances vocabulary, language, and comprehension skills. This can be done using word walls and writing simple sentences and being creative through art and play.
Family involvement is essential in reading development and the language process. Families must be involved in school and at home. Encourage family involvement by creating a Reading Calendar and ask families to sign up to read books in the classroom, this is a way of not only increasing parent involvement but showing students that their family is a resource. Keep in frequent contact with families and provide them with resources on the importance of reading and where they can seek help. Send home books from the class library for children and families to read together, and activities with simple directions that will aid in the language process.
