Requiem for Sun Ra

Sun Ra (May 22, 1914 – May 30, 1993) was an amazing American jazz composer, bandleader, piano and synthesizer player (one of the first to use an electric piano and synthesizers for jazz). He was a poet, and was known for his "cosmic" ideas, large output of music, experimental music and colorful and often dramatic mythical and theatrical performances.
Sun Ra made many recordings of his work, many of which
are available for download, and as CDs and classic vinyl LPs.



The Music

We used our experimental and Artificial Intelligence music software to "listen" to dozens of examples of Sun Ra's work and then programmed it to improvise 11 pieces based on the results.
This collection is prepared in 3 sections, named after visions and theories often described by Sun Ra....
