It is very well suited to summer camp activities or supplementary lessons that stress oral language.
The student book has 28 pages of colorful pictures that reinforce the lively conversations of the storybook characters. Teacher notes and suggestions for presenting each Chapter are includes at the bottom of each page. These include questions for the teacher to ask followed by the answers.
The story will introduce students who live in inland countries with interesting information about stormy seas and ocean tides. It features a lighthouse that protects the ships from the rocky coastline.
A practical simple way of demonstrating and explaining the ocean tides is included in the Teacher Notes..
Picture Bingo Games teach understanding of oral language. The children listen intently as they are eager to win the game. It is our experience that the children would ask as they entered the classroom, “Can we play Bingo?” We responded with, “Yes, but we have this work to do first so let’s get started so we can play Bingo.”
There are two sets of captions for the teacher to call. The first uses the basic vocabulary from the story. The second set is “Enrichment”. It introduces some new vocabulary, requiring the children to use context clues to identify the correct picture. There are two teacher cards with the captions below each picture and 25 Picture Bingo student cards.
