The Perpetual Choirs Experiments

There is a unique and often fascinating British writer named "John Michell" who wrote about his idea that in the ancient world, at sacred sites, there were rotations of "perpetual choirs" that chanted at special sites, at all times to keep their world in balance. The perpetual choirs chanting, were... "Celebrating the order of the heavens and guiding the ritual order of life on earth"

The art below are 2 paintings by John Michell.

He also had unique ideas about numerology, geometry, and theories related to the Chinese geomancy of Feng Shui. His wrote that Stonehenge and the other great prehistoric monuments of the English landscape are laid out in accordance with sacred geometry to fulfil a magical purpose: bringing harmony to the land.

So we decided to attempt to use some his concepts of number and geometry to have our software generate spontaneous chanting and choir music.

This collection of 6 pieces is the results of those audio experiments..

You can listen to audio samples at:

This collection is part of our ongoing project to generate music using software and artificial intelligence.
