Taking Risks 

When you think about taking risks, perhaps you think about things like provoking an attacker or jumping out of a plane. But we take risks in small ways in our everyday interactions that can seem big and feel life threatening. When we risk exposing how we feel, or standing up for ourselves, it can feel as if we risk death. When we risk relating to others without the usual protection mechanisms and identities, we discover that there is no safe ground under our feet. These risks may seem small, and yet sometimes it can feel as if jumping out of a plane would be easier.
