Imagine you are a new EL teacher at a school that has recently had an influx of EL students. Your grade level teachers are having a hard time managing and engaging with these students. Consider the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework you have learned about this week.

• How would you explain the UDL framework to your colleagues?

• What tips would you give your colleagues about how to get to know their students’ interests and backgrounds?
