Dragon Scale Rings foundation paper pieced FPP pattern

Dragon Scale Rings is a 9 inch finished block design for foundation paper piecing. Scarlett's 2 block sample with 2 1/2 inch finished border features a fabulous scrappy look with sorted fabric scraps in three colors; blues, yellows and printed muslins. Choose your own color combination for a beautiful 3 color quilt. The digital pattern PDF includes the numbered templates for the block and border, with a color picture for fabric placement and instructions. A gray scale diagram for the small quilt is included to show block placement and it can be printed out for coloring.

More blocks can be paper pieced to easily make larger size quilts. Multiply the 9 inch finished block until you get the size desired in length and width. The border is 2 1/2 inches finished and uses the same templates in the block.

Scarlett paper pieced two of her Hearts & Homes blocks into the center of the Dragon Scale Rings block instead of using the 4 inch center square template to create a sampler quilt from this versatile pattern. Imagine a large quilt with a different 4 inch finished block in each Dragon Scale Ring! Any 4 inch finished block will fit.
