    • Local schools (preferred)

    • Neighborhood children

    • Friends

    • Church acquaintances

    • Boys’ and girls’ clubs

    • Relatives

    • Class or family members

Implement the following with your client:

    • Reading attitude survey (Test 12 in your ESRI book)

    • Oral retelling of a narrative text

    • Oral retelling of expository text

    • Letter-word identification test, if appropriate

    • Instructional activity (see Week 4 Instructional Activity Assignment)

Diagnose the client’s reading strengths and weaknesses.

Plan a recommended program of remediation.

Include all assessment artifacts in your Final Diagnostic and Instructional Recommendations Report.

Refer to Part I: Section 4 of Ekwall/Shanker Reading Inventory for suggestions on preparing your diagnostic report and to review sample reports.

Follow the exact format laid out in the sample reports found in Part I: Section 4 of Ekwall/Shanker Reading Inventory when writing your final diagnostic report.

Note: All assessment artifacts must be saved and included in the Final Diagnostic and Instructional Recommendations Report. Upload them as a separate pdf file (do not insert them within the actual report).

This assignment–teaching a lesson one-on-one in a grade-appropriate classroom–requires a formal field experience evaluation. Remember to inform the classroom/site teacher that she/he will receive an email with the appropriate field experience evaluation form that she/he will need to complete. Ensure that you have an accurate email address for the classroom/site teacher. If you will be working with a client outside of a classroom setting (for example, working with a neighborhood child or a relative), please let your facilitator know.

Select “Field Experiences Evaluation – Instruction” in the Activity field on My Time Log to have the evaluation form submitted to your reviewer. After the evaluation is completed, be sure to export it and send it to your facilitator via a private message. Or, upload a copy of the exported file along with your final report and artifacts.

Submit your assignment.
