Change Theories, Conflict Theories and Change Agent

Professional nurse leaders can employ constructive change in a system by demonstrating as effective leaders. Organization change can be complex in illustrating various change theories which can be identify and apply as a framework to construct change. Each illustrated approach may be prepare for different situation, such as a design that apply to one change activity may not infer with another change activity. Health institution that apply responsive and proactive in change leadership are equip to overcome interference and turbulence and will show success.

There are several change theories, the writer will share the views of some the noted theories. The Lewin’s change theory illustrates forces that suggest an organization defend to stay in a state of equilibrium with field maintaining it for the driving forces and restraining forces. The driving forces usually employ in the direction to effect a supported change.

An illustration of a driving force for example nursing supervisors apply pressure on staffs to improve care by inviting incentive awards. In contrast, the restraining forces employ stasis and defy change. Indifferences and antagonism are examples of restraining forces.  The organization will remain dormant when driving forces and restraining forces are on equal par. Theory suggest an intervention where the driving forces are encourage and restraining forces weaken which result in intended change.

The Lewin’s theory also formulate changes as a three phase act; unfreezing, changing, and refreezing. The unfreezing phase suggest staffs are coach into participate in change interest and galvanize to accept the reason for change. The changing phase employs initiation and construction of new procedure, discovery for change. The refreezing stage suggest the institution stabilizes at the new equilibrium and assures the new behavior designs are accepted on a concrete basis. In the content of nursing application the force-field theory suggest increasing driving forces and weaken restraining forces. Lewin’s theory suggest a path for organization, execution, and gauging the adoption and achieve of nursing entropy scheme (Lee, 2006).
