Composer: Anon (c.1778)
Forces: Vn.Vc.Kbd.

The current set was published in "A curious collection of Scots tunes", 1788 (pub. Preston, arranger unknown), under the less common variant name of Black Jock. As with many versions of this piece, the violin part calls for scordatura tuning. The point of tuning in this way is both to increase resonance from open (lower) strings, and to make cross-string playing and octave leaps easier on the higher strings. This edition includes violin parts in both tunings.
