Alphabet Animals From M To Z

These textbooks offer a unique approach to introducing the English Alphabet to ESL/EFL students, aged 6 to 8 years. Presented in a graphics novel format, it is assumed that they are ready to listen, understand, speak and read a second language.

Student Reader:

Children love animals! In each chapter the new alphabet letter and animal information is introduced by Panda Bear or Polly Parrot, their teachers. Their messages prepare them to follow the storybook characters, George and Elizabeth, on their journeys to visit the animals. The children role-play the dialogue, answer simple questions and are encouraged to offer their ideas. Suggestions for presenting the lessons are provided on each page with page references for the Workbook and Teacher’s Guide.

Workbook

These textbooks teache printing the alphabet letters between lines, using key words for practice. The children also complete pictures to show their understanding of oral and written directions.

Instructions for presenting the lessons are provided on each page. These include suggested oral questions and teacher information about the unique characteristics of the animals. The students count and print the numbers to 22. Review activities are included throughout.

Teacher's Guide

The Teacher's Guide reinforces the material taught in the Student Reader and the Workbook. It provides Picture Bingo games that require the children to listen to the teacher call a sentence that describes a picture. The children listen and place a marker on the picture that matches the descriptive sentence. Each game has a total of 24 pictures. The first student to have a straight row of markers in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal direction calls "Bingo". He or she is the winner. A simple prize such as a stamp on their book or a star drawn on the blackboard give the student a feeling of success. As this is a game of chance it provides children that have difficulty, an opportunity to win.

This Teacher's Guide also includes 3 tests that are given as the children progress through the book plus a final test. All tests are designed to provide the teacher with information about the student's areas of strength and weakness.
