Sets by Purcell are often encountered in such collections and are frequently derived from Heptinstal's "Ayres for the Theatre", usually rescheduled in new suites according to key. This selection derives from the publication of the entire work, 1692, and is published as an exemplar of the sort of reduction that was made of Purcell's larger works for band use.
