Prelleur : Medley Overture I : Printable cover page
Composer: Peter Prelleur (c.1705 - 1741)
This overture was published in a collection of six medley overtures in 1763, although it was most probably written in the 1730s or early 1740s (in common with the other overtures in that set). No attribution was made in that publication, but it is usually ascribed to Peter Prelleur, as is another unattributed item also available from notAmos. The original pantomime for which it was written also remains unidentified (once in circulation, it may have been used for other newer productions): Harlequin Hermit, Harlequin Student and The Emperor of the Moon are possible candidates.
