Gojushiho Dai - kata & application volume 23

This video features tuition by John Burke sensei of the Karate Academy in Devon, UK.  Assisted by Ross Chesterton sensei, the featured kata is Gojushiho Dai - usually reserved for experienced Karate-ka; high Dan grades.

Rather than looking at attackers who approach from 10 feet away, the techniques of the kata are used here to deal with close-in situations and common forms of hostility.

The moves from the kata become joint-locks, throws, and strikes to anatomically vulnerable locations.
