Alzheimers Memory Book - A Caregivers Design Guide
My wife and I became live in caregivers for her mother who suffered from Alzheimers disease. During this five year period we discovered that “photographic recall” was clearly helpful and provided a daily mental exercise with significant results. A sense of cheerfulness and well being was noticed by way of nonverbal expressions as she reviewed each photograph. Great conversation followed, which challenged her memory to be used. We developed a strategy for this mental exercise, and the systematic approach we used is the focus of this book. It seemed to help her quality of life on a daily basis and maybe it even slowed down the progress of the disease a little. That would really be hard to judge. Inevitably, Alzheimers disease will run its full course. However, this is how we improved the quality of life for one individual and maybe this systematic approach will help you as a caregiver.
