deepnine 'Final Hour' mp3 file - electronica/new age
The song "Final Hour" practically came over me after reading an article in the Washington Post about a photo exhibit at the Corcoran Gallery which chronicled hospice work. The article mentioned a story - perhaps one that captioned several photos, I can't recall now - about a volunteer who had granted the dying wish of a patient by driving her several hours to see the ocean for the last time.
I felt like I knew this woman somehow, and I have also always felt a strong bond to the sea. I went up to my studio and in a few hours that evening wrote the piano line that is the main structure for this piece.
I remember listening to it over and over one winter night with a fire in the fireplace and I felt that it was really quite good. I am grateful that it choose to come through me.
