Magic (1999) (RMST) (CARAM RECORDS) (IMPORT) (18 TRACKS)
Ian Gillan

Album Description:

MAGIC is an album by British rock band Gillan, their final collaboration, released in 1982. Opening with two incredible hard-rockers "What''s The Matter" and "Bluesy Blue Sea", album was very well received by Gillan''s staunch U.K. following and achieved considerable chart success comparable to GLORY ROAD and FUTURE SHOCK, peaking at #17 in the U.K. and featuring the hit singles "Long Gone" and "Living For The City" (a cover version of the Stevie Wonder classic).

The eight bonus tracks presented in this re-issue feature non-album material in form of single b-sides and album outtakes. Proudly stand out amazing versions of The Beatles'' "Helter Skelter" and Howlin'' Wolf''s "Smokestack Lightning". Also included are the A and B-side of the solo single SOUTH AFRICA / JOHN from 1988, along with an extended 12" version. Ian had written and recorded it with guitarist Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake).

After a tour to promote the album, Gillan disbanded when Ian Gillan became the singer of Black Sabbath in 1983. After that, he joined the reformed Mark II Deep Purple line-up in 1984.

Recorded at Kingsway Recorders, London, U.K. in 1982.
