My book THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF1930 S (eBooks)
BOOK-1
About this item:
This ebook is 180 pages about the exiting life, true stories and humor about a boy born in the Turtle Mountains near Bottineau, North Dakota in 1936 and raised on a small farm in central Minnesota during the First Great Depression in the later 1930 s and early 1940 s.
Grandma on Dad s side came had come from Norway when she was 8 years old, Grandpa on Dad s side came from England, Grandma on Ma s side came from Czechoslovakia when things were tough there, Grandpa on Ma s side came from Germany.
Anyway they got together, did their thing and that s where I came from.
As I sat down to write this book I was amazed of the memories that came back to me from my childhood. Some of those memories were good and some were not so good. But it brings back a little humor and some of the daring and unusual true-life experiences from when I was about 3 years old during the First Great Depression up until the present time.
The lard and sugar sandwiches for school lunch tasted very good when we had nothing else. I thank you for your delicious home-made bread to make those sandwiches, Ma. Thank you for the hard work on the farm and railroad section gang, Dad. You put the food on the table for us kids or as they say here in Minnesota you brought home the bacon.
My greatest wish is that Ma and Dad were here today so I could hear them laugh again when some peoples kids do the craziest things. I was one of those kids.
In a Twin City suburb there were 3 old delapitated 2 story houses in a row, side by side that had a very personal touch in our history. The little towns people had names for them. They called them Faith, Hope & Charity. Every time we drove by them we called them by name.
And now- -I have Faith, I have faith that this book will sell. I have Hope, I hope that this book will sell. I may need Charity if it doesnt sell. If nobody buys this book I may need to have a meeting and ask for a government bailout.
Yes, I put a little humor in my book just like us kids did during that FIRST great depression, just to help keep our sanity.
My book has 2 parts:
PART I: The Hard Times and The War
PART II: Ma always said "things will get better some day"
(she never said when, she never said for how long)
("some people s kids did the craziest things")
If you like a little humor and want to experience the true life of a Minnesota farm boy from the First Great Depression to the present time- -you just gotta read this book.
