Drawing Portraits from Photographs
Drawing an Elderly Balinese Woman
Drawing a portrait from a photograph is much more than merely copying a printed image; the drawing must stand as a work of art. Quite often drawings from photographs appear flat and lifeless. This is due, in much part, to photographs themselves being flat and subtly distorted.
In this workshop Michael Britton draws from a photograph of an elderly Balinese woman wearing a head wrap who graciously posed for him.
The workshop is comprised of five lessons that take you step-by-step through the entire process of drawing a finished portrait using Wolff''''s Carbon Pencils (a hard charcoal) on Fabriano Ingres paper.
