Album Description:

DEHUMANIZER is the sixteenth studio album by British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in June 1992. It was the first Black Sabbath studio album in over a decade to feature Ronnie James Dio on vocals and Vinny Appice on drums, and the first in nine years to feature original bassist Geezer Butler. Initial writing and demo sessions at Rich Bitch Studios in Birmingham featured drummer Cozy Powell; bootlegs of these sessions exist. The album''s line-up of Dio, Appice, Butler, and guitarist Tony Iommi later reunited in 2006 under the moniker Heaven & Hell.

DEHUMANIZER is seen by many metal aficionados as a ''lost classic.'' In 1992, a reunion of the Black Sabbath mark II lineup occurred, garnering a sigh of relief from the worldwide fans of the group. In the 80''s and early 90''s, the metal outfit went through countless personnel changes and perhaps should have been called The Tony Iommi Project. This reunion with Ronnie James Dio was a precursor to the four original members reuniting in December 1997.

DEHUMANIZER is a thunderously heavy album. The band sported a "take no prisoners" attitude in showing they could rock even harder than a decade earlier. "TV Crimes," the album''s first single, is a fast and furious number featuring the drumming talents of Vinny Appice. Songs like "Masters of Insanity" and "Sins of the Father" contribute to the album''s dark feel. "Time Machine" is the standout track, and a second version from the WAYNE''S WORLD 2 soundtrack is featured. Dio''s voice ages like fine wine, and Geezer Butler''s inventive bass line dominates the track. DEHUMANIZER is the sweet fruit of this mark II reunion.

Black Sabbath: Ronnie James Dio (vocals); Tony Iommi (guitar); Geoff Nicholls (keyboards); Geezer Butler (bass guitar); Vinny Appice (drums).

Recorded at Rockfield Studios, Wales, England.

Produced by Mack and Black Sabbath.
