Since
the Renaissance cast drawing has proven to be the most effective
training that the beginner artist can receive. By virtue of the cast's
immovability the beginner artist can first develop and hone the
all-important skill of striking the arabesque. Later tone and form is
studied.
Working from the cast eliminates many of the inherent
difficulties of working from a live model (i.e., constantly changing
model movements - I call it drifting - and differing light conditions
throughout the day, even the hour.)
This hour and one-half long workshop/demonstration is the beginner artist's first step into portrait drawing.
