Revue du MAUSS No 36 Mauss Vivant, The Living Mauss
Issue 36 of the French Social Science Journal Revue du Mauss semestrielle publishes texts in French and English by some 40 international researchers about French sociologist and ethnographer Marcel Mauss on the occasion of an international symposium held in June 2009 in Cerisy-La-Salle, France.
Mauss is known for his major work on the gift as the basis of human exchanges (as an opposed to the market, although Mauss did not reject the latter). But the importance of his political theory extends much beyond mere ethnography, and remain of particular relevance today as the texts gathered in this volume tend to show.
