Benin City ("Outkast meets James Brown") are one of the UK s outstanding new bands, whose sound has already been hailed by various leading radio stations and television programmes. "Work", the lead single from their "Invisible Cake" EP, was named Xfm X-posure s Single of the Week in February 2010, and was played by Sky TV s SoccerAm as part of their highlight package; the launch of their EP was filmed by Reuters for their Africa Daily programme. They have supported, among others, dan le sac vs Scroobius Pip, Kid British, Lack of Afro, Razorlight and Supergrass.

A six-piece outfit consisting of two vocalists, drums (Theo Buckingham), electric cello (Jon Cottle), trombone (Faye Treacy) and saxophone (Tom Leaper), they are fronted by two of the UK s finest spoken word artists, Joshua Idehen and Musa Okwonga, who also are co-founders of TimeOut nominated PoeJazzi, hailed by The Southbank Centre as "London s premier spoken word night". Their work has been featured and published by The Times, The Sunday Times, Channel4.com, Serpent s Tail and Prospect magazines. Their breathtaking live performances, at venues such as the E4 Udderbelly and the BBC Radio Theatre, have led many, including Xfm s John Kennedy and BBC Music s Craig Charles to tip them as a band to watch - if not THE band to watch.
