This fun mashed up pattern was the final round pattern in the 2007 Sock Madness competition. The pattern is now available to anyone wishing to have a fun and challenging sock pattern. The dramatic lace on the back of the leg makes these sock a great three season choice. The wool and silk blend yarns really make the pattern stand out.
This pattern includes two women's sizes with other sizes easily obtained by changing the gauge and/or yarn. The stitches are presented both in written and chart form.
- Skill Level: Intermediate
- Sizes: 2 sizes for 7.5 and 8.5 inch ankle circumfrences
- Yarn Requirements: 2 balls KnitPicks Gloss in Dusk, 70% Merino Wool, 30% Silk, 220 yds/50 gms or 2 balls Regia Silk 4-ply in 12 Camel, 55% Wool, 25% Polyamide, 20% Silk, 218 yds/50 gms
- Needles: 2 - 2.5 mm Circular Needles of 16 inches or greater length, 2 - 3.0 mm Circular Needles of 16 inches or greater length, or size needed to obtain gauge of 8.5 st/in in St st on smaller needles
This pattern is recommended for intermediate knitters who have prior experience knitting socks. You should know how to knit in the round, purl, ssk, k2tog, sl 1, cable, yo, pick up stitches, and Kitchner stitch. The pattern is written for knitting on 2 circular needles, but could be adjusted to either the Magic Loop technique or DPNs for those already familiar with those techniques.
