Dean Goschler Ther - Chapter 08
This essay will examine the development of the politics of restitution
in West Germany. My main argument is that since 1945 there has been a
cyclical succession of "final settlements" and then reemergences of the
restitution issue, which can only be explained by the fundamental
changes in the perception of Nazi anti-Jewish policies, by developments
in the fields of national and international politics, and changes in
the standards of justice.
