This training video teaches you to Program a Clock Application & Learn Objective C with Plenty of Comparisons to Actionscript 3!
Course summary: Part 1: Intro to Objective C with comparisons to Actionscript 3
Obviously here at CartoonSmart we teach a lot of Actionscript programmers because of all the Flash courses we offer. So our instructor, Jeremy Hicks, taught this course with that in mind. If you haven't ever programmed in Actionscript, thats okay, you'll learn a little of that too when Jeremy switches back and forth between Flash and Xcode to show how to code the basics in both programs. In this first hour, you'll learn variables, functions, if statements, importing frameworks (other classes), connecting objects in Interface Builder to Xcode, and tons of other essential beginner tips to understand just what the heck is going on in Xcode.
Part 2: Programming a Clock Application
Your finished project will be a clock. Who needs another clock program, right? Nobody. So don't plan on selling this in the App Store and becoming a millionaire, but learning to program this application will give you an excellent foundation for creating more later. Key topics in this part include: starting your app with a tab bar setup, importing images, controlling views, using text fields, writing code for displaying the time and date, creating a loop to repeatedly run code, animating objects, debugging, and of course writing tons of functions, variables, arrays, if statements, and everything else involved with a common app.
