What the contributions to the present volume reveal, in accordance with earlier
findings,1 is that the persecution and annihilation of European Jewry
under Nazi rule was a division-of-labor-based crime in the sense that the core
group of perpetrators, under tight control of central agencies, notably the
Reichssicherheitshauptamt, relied on a highly differentiated structure of institutional
and individual actors.
