THE ARTIST Effacer is the project of John McCaig (aka JDG) a composer from Seattle - USA. John s work demonstrates a keen appreciation of sound as an entity that inhabits space and shapes the experience of that space. His compositions integrate ideas and techniques from ambient and minimal-abstract genres whilst connecting with real world contexts through the use of field recordings. A STUDY IN MULTIBAND GRANULAR SYNTHESIS This release marks Effacer s debut full release on audiobulb, following on from his label compilation appearances and his self released Effacer EP (http://www.effacer.net/about.html). These new works continue to demonstrate his interest in treating sound as a physical event in time, to be constructed and deconstructed like a sculpture. Sounds are built up to form a complete audio shape and then de-assembled and slowed down allowing the listener to examine the component parts. The final track "murmur" departs from this pathway offering an eerie disembodied voice inspired drone.
