The Laurel Canyon Animal Company’s new musical trilogy is a collaboration between a United States Marine War dog named Sirius, musicians Skip Haynes and Dana Walden, psychic medium and animal communicator Vincent Genna and the spirit of Marine Sgt. Joshua Ashley - Sirius’ handler and soul mate.
Haynes and Walden choose the particular animal or species they would like to work with and then choose an animal communicator they think would fit that project. They ask the communicator “read” the animal or spirit and based on the reply, they write and produce the songs. The animals act as a directional Muse.”This project has an added dimension in that the spirit of Sirius’ handler Joshua, and his mother Tammie are part of this particular musical equation.
This resulted in a trilogy of three intertwining songs.
Call Me Duke (What’s In A Name?)
Is based on the fact one of the first things learned from Sirius was the fact he DID NOT like his name - he wanted to be called “Duke”. In past projects we have found that many animals did not like their names so it has been a consistent theme throughout our different projects and worthy of a song.
