Backyard & Commercial Aquaponics - A little bit of Everything
Aquaponics has become very popular around the World as it offers the potential for anybody to grow their own vegetables (and fish) in their own backyard.
Food security and affordability are under threat. Increasing fuel costs, increasing labour costs, droughts and changing weather patterns due to global warming, are forcing people to grow their own food using alternative more efficient methods.
Aquaponics is environmentally friendly. It uses a small fraction of water when compared to conventional soil grown plants. Nothing goes to waste in a well-designed aquaponics system. Some fish, such as tilapia Rendalli will even eat the plants you produce, helping reduce feed costs.
The ebook " A little bit of everything - Backyard & Commercial Aquaponics" is packed with information and photos gathered from over 6 years experience in building and operating small backyard and commercial systems in Southern Africa.
We tell it like it is, and we cover everything from the basic water quality requirements, beneficial bacteria, fish species, plant varieties, system design and sizing, pumps, blowers, filtration, and many other subjects.
We have written the book in layman's terms so it's easy to understand, and have added many photos to illustrate the theory.
Our idea is to get as many people to build their own backyard or commercial aquaponics system and start growing their own food for own consumption or for resale.
When properly designed and operated Aquaponics is viable and profitable.
