Triangles within Triangles Shawl knitting pattern - PDF
Knit your own Triangles within Triangles Shawl using these clearly-written instructions by knitwear designer Jackie E-S of HeartStrings FiberArts.
A simple triangular shawl that starts with just a few stitches at the center neckline, and increases in pattern to create the triangle shape. Since the knitting is stockinette stitch-based, this design uses a rate of increase that is slightly more than the typical every-other-row rate so that the resulting shape retains a pleasing width-to-length ratio.
The main pattern alternates a solid triangle with a lacy triangle. A coordinating edging is used to bind off, as well as create a pretty triangle-shaped finish to the outer edge of the shawl.
You are buying a download of a PDF file that you can view using Adobe Reader and print on 8½" x 11" plain paper as a personal copy of knitting instructions to make the Triangles within Triangles Shawl. Pattern is 3 pages and includes color photo, charts and line-by-line stitch instructions.
The Triangles within Triangles Shawl shown in the picture was made in Haneke fingering-weight alpaca, color melange lilac.
As do all HeartStrings' patterns, this pattern has yarn-generic specifications so you can easily substitute with the yarn you want.
To make Triangles within Triangles Shawl of 36" deep by 72" wide, you will need 1200 yards of fingering weight yarn. Size US 7 / 4.5 mm needles suggested for gauge of 4½ stitches/inch. Easily adjusts to other sizes by knitting to length desired, and other weights of yarn with corresponding adjustment in needle size and yardage.
