Description / Objective / Linked materials
The unit gives a basic outline of London but is used to introduce some core urban geography concepts and issues. Particularly all cities have opportunities and problems, wealth and poverty and common issues of growth, sprawl, and decay. Here geography skills are introduced especially using annotated section diagrams to record land use. My follow up work would be to help the students create a cross section diagram for their own settlement no matter how small. Here they can revisit the observation skills form the first lessons of term. Use with the London Differentiated Homework sheet. Assess learning and understanding using the Revise and Test presentations included.
3 lesson units – location, contrasts and land use patterns.
