Description / Objective / Linked materials
Los Angeles is used here as an example of the fragile relationship between urban development and the environment. I found the students were very aware of the attractions of Los Angeles. I would start by brain storming in groups what they know of Los Angeles. The presentation allowed me to then introduce lots of urban issues and trends. Use with the LA problem city and World Cities Differentiated Homeworks. Assess learning and understanding using the Revise and Test presentations included.
4 lesson units – location, natural setting, sprawl and counter urbanisation.
