How To Teach A Great Unit on The Movement of Peoples
This resource for teaching a unit on the Movement of Peoples is designed to provide teachers with engaging strategies and materials for meeting the requirements of the Year 9 Australian Curriculum. The resource will cover strategies and materials for teaching how the industrial revolution influenced the movement of people around the world from 1750 to 1901. The workshop will particularly focus on the movement of convicts and settlers to Australia, how their experience changed over time in Australia and what the impact of their movement as a people was. Teachers will be shown ways that they can introduce students to the use of historical sources and conventions, and incorporate the use of ICT, including web 2.0 tools, into students’ response to the unit.
