How To Teach A Great Unit on Renaissance Italy
This resource for teaching a unit on Renaissance Italy is designed to provide teachers with engaging strategies and materials for meeting the requirements of the Year 8 Australian Curriculum. The resource will cover strategies and materials for teaching the political, social and economic structure of society in Italy during the Renaissance. The workshop will focus on the particular examples of Florence and Naples, as well as looking at how we can teach the roles and achievements of individuals such as Da Vinci, Machiavelli and Galileo. Teachers will be shown ways that they can introduce students to the use of historical sources and conventions, and incorporate the use of ICT, including web 2.0 tools, into students’ response to the unit.
