Mark Battenberg Songs of the River Spirit (Battenberg-2005) A collage of original contemporary works on acoustic guitar, inspired by natural themes of rivers and forests. Battenberg delivers intricately woven melodic passages to enchant the listener and to inspire inner peace and solace. Featuring the soothing and silky voice of Shelley Thomas reciting original poetry penned by Battenberg . Songs of the River Spirit embodies a large amount of life works from Battenberg. The magical moments of the performance is delivered in such a mesmerizing manner that it engulfs the listener whole heartedly. This body of work has been a great achievement and milestone for Battenberg Canadian Composer and Performing Artist. Battenbergs music studies began at an early age in elementary school with the cello and upright bass. He eventually began learning the acoustic guitar and hence his professional career began in 1985. He is also a graduate of Fanshawe College for music production. Battenberg has also participated in Performance Master Classes at the Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music.
