Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Which file format is right for my e-Reader?
A: The EPUB format is the most widely supported ebook format. It is supported by the largest number of e-Readers including:
- iOS devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad,
- Barnes and Noble Nook,
- Sony Reader,
- Kobo eReader,
- Blackberry Playbook,
- Apple's iBooks app running on OS X (10.9 or later)
- Bookeen Cybook Gen3 (with firmware v. 2 and up),
- Adobe Digital Editions,
- Lexcycle Stanza,
- Mantano Reader,
- Moon+ Reader on Android,
- the Mozilla Firefox add-on EPUBReader,
Kindle does not natively support EPUB, but does support MOBI, PRC, and AZW. The Amazon Kindle's AZW format is the MOBI format with a slightly different serial number scheme (it uses an asterisk instead of a dollar sign), and can be read directly on the Kindle.
The PDF file format is supported by almost all modern ebook readers, tablets and smartphones.
