Finally a fellow musician and software engineer has created a stable, flexible and easy to use audio player for the PC and the gigging musician. That fellow musician is Anthony (A. J.) Hosking.
The program is called Musicman Pro.
Significant upgrades from the previous Musicman and extensive beta testing has produced a primo audio player. An audio player that will allow you to not only load single or multiple songs from you laptops hard-drive but also save the song list and shuffle the order.
An audio player that will allow you to initiate controlled fades on songs. An audio player that will automatically cue the next song in the list and wait for the user to hit enter. It will also automatically play one song after the other until it is either stopped or reaches the end of the list.
Additionally it will clean up after itself, taking the most recent song played off the list so you don’t play the same song twice in a set. Simple to use, extremely stable, flexible and cost effective, Musicman requires a minimum of attention.
It will play a variety of formats such as MP3s, WAV, AIF, MIDI and WMA from the users hard-drive. No more fumbling with CDs, tapes or mini-discs, now you can store your entire repertoire on your hard-drive ready to load and play at a moments notice. You can even load and shuffle songs to the song list on the fly while another song is playing without crashing the system.
My wife bought the music man pro last week and used it for the first time at a gig on Saturday night. Programme is very basic but does exactly what it says and what is needed for a gig. The auto pause facility is just fantastic. There was no problem with having the laptop hooked up to the power (as warned), Well worth the money.
