Composer: Arthur Betts (arr.) (?1774 - 1847)
Forces: Keyboard, Harp
A popular English (possibly Northumbrian) dance tune, improved and elaborated here for the amateur parlour musician.
In Thomas Hardy's anecdote (publ. in "Absent mindedness in a village choir") it was a spontaneous and inappropriate outburst of "Devil among the tailors" that prompted the parson to replace the parish gallery musicians with a barrel-organ.
