Nijushiho & Niseishi - kata comparison seminar
Nijushiho. Niseishi. The names are Japanese and Okinawan for "24". The kata are not usually taught until one is an established Black Belt, and the embusen (performance line) is different to most other kata.
This video footage was shot at a live seminar in 2004. Martyn Harris sensei of Okinawan Kempo Cardiff was a guest at the Karate Academy in Torquay, where he and John Burke sensei taught the kata from their respective styles, with corresponding applications, to a multi-style group of attendees.
The object of the course was to reveal the similarities in effective self protection once you get beyond the issue of "style". The video reveals the principles and how differences in form do not mask effective application.
Running at nearly an hour in length, this footage has been recreated as the original files ot make the DVD are no longer available.
