UNSU - Cloud Hands. A Karate kata that is commonly only taught to practitioners of 3rd degree black belt (sandan).
The kata is very popular with competitors, due to the grace and agility required to perform it well. It is acrobatic and dynamic in parts. Yet the applications are often lacking in common-sense. You will see people who tell you that they are facing four attackers with the turning sequence. You will hear that you have to jump over a bo staff or underneath a round-house kick.
The fact of it is, the movements from this kata can be used in a very practical way. In this "no-frills" presentation, the tuition is by John Burke sensei. The Karate 5th Dan instructor uses the techniques in a way that is not for children, but rather close-in effective self-defence. Learn what the jump can be used for, and why we would want to turn one way and then another in rapid succession.
The footage is over 120 minutes, and it is recommended that viewers have looked at the other titles in this series to gain an insight into the range and the basic mechanics that this advanced kata uses.
