KHCD-2011-051DL (STEREO) - Bach: Magnificat in D, BWV 243 - Teresa Stich-Randall, soprano; Bianca Maria Casoni; alto; Pietro Bottazzi, tenor, Georg Littasy, bass; Chorus of the Saarbruck Conservatory (Herbert Schmolzi, director) - Maurice André, Louis Menardi, C, de Antoni, trumpets - Cantata BWV 51 - Teresa Stich-Randall, soprano; Maurice André, trumpet - Chamber Orchestra of The Saar - Karl Ristenpart - This disc is the result of many requests by Klassic Haus customers. After much searching, I was able to find a restorable, late-pressing copy of this elusive Nonesuch disc, first issued domestically in 1965. Glorious performance of the Magnificat in C, with the ubiquitous soprano Teresa-Stich Randall offering her clarity of voice and attention to detail, along with a well-balanced cast of soloists, and a youthful, well-trained chorus. Trumpeter Maurice André joins Stich-Randall in the solo Cantata No. 51. The proceedings are conducted by Karl Ristenpart, with the Chamber Orchestra of the Saar.
