If an artist had to create a picture of an island paradise his inspiration could easily come from the stunning limestone islands of Palau. The canvas would portray turquoise waters glistening beneath a golden sun, abounding with marine life frolicking in the warm tropical waters which in turn lap on to white sandy beaches and against the uniquely sculpted rocky islands. However it would be hard for any artist to paint a more stunning picture than the real Palau.This unique landscape is surrounded by a Barrier reef which is fed from rich oceanic currents attracting a wide array of marine species. With a healthy biodiversity this area has become a marine paradise for divers and adventurers.Palau has also recently become the first shark sanctuary in the world and this small country may lead the world in finally realizing that sharks are a vital and integral part of our ecosystem. However, it is the financial role that sharks play in Palau that has helped shape their future. Lin meets the people that helped create the shark sanctuary and unfolds the economics these creatures play toward Palau''s economy. Together they dive with many people from many countries that also travel thousands of miles to see some of the best shark diving in the world paying richly for the experience.Lin meets with the founder of one of Palau''s main diving operators who is a longtime friend of hers.
