Not Guilty

The unpredictable element so prevalent in life is on display in this
book based on true-life events. With the turbulent Vietnam War era
as a backdrop, "Not Guilty" details the misfortunes that befall its main
character, Louis Hill. One moment Louis is a highly successful Texas
businessman, the next, thrown in jail and charged with murder and
rape. Equally damning and emotionally scarring to Louis, in the process
he is betrayed by his erstwhile lover.

Despite being innocent of any crime, unusual circumstances convince
Louis a trial would end up with a guilty verdict. Our protagonist is
faced with a life-altering decision while out on bail. Incur the folly of
a kangaroo court ultimately resulting in a death sentence; maybe life
behind bars if he’s lucky, or take more extreme measures with a run
from justice. What would you do in such a scenario?

Fearing no alternative, Louis picks the highly volatile and unsteady
fugitive world. With eyes in the back of his head monitoring the police’s
attempt to recapture him, Louis uses his other senses to try to clear his
name. Weeks and months pass on this tortuous and torturous road. For
Louis, adventures encountered while on the lam are often tragic, but
also, sometimes surprisingly carefree and comical. All the while, Louis is
most unnerved and driven by the disloyalty of his lady friend whom he
still adores. He pines to prove his innocence and once again be united
with her.

"Not Guilty" exemplifies the raw actions unearthed as man endures
inaccurate allegations possessing grave consequences. When pure
serendipity finally intervenes to supposedly give Louis his life back, an
unexpected twist leaves the reader straddling a symbolic fence dividing
a just ending from an unjust conclusion.
