Tom Drummond is one of the most successful in a new breed of funky producers coming out of Australia, with releases on labels like Good Groove, Manmade, Discocakes and BigM.
Music has always been Tom’s focus, playing in various live music groups and studying Jazz music at Perth’s famed WAAPA academy. With this background Tom knows the secret recipe of putting together a good funky productions, by cutting up classic jams and turning them into a new dancefloor friendly arrangements.
With this EP he shows exactly how it’s done, with the ghetto funkin’ a-side cuts and silky smooth b-side jams.
A. He kicks off the EP with the ghetto funkin’ Rock The Rhythm, which leave us asking for nothing more as he slams on the classic “Get Out My Life Woman” brilliantly mixed with some J5 vocals and some jazzy grooves to top it all off. The boomin’ ghetto funk bass is gonna go down well in any modern day ghetto funk DJ-set.
B. Tom Drummond continues the heavy breaks on the second cut Put it on the Plastic, which has a groovy electro bass and some funky synth. It all works out very well and shows Tom’s excellent skills on putting together funky break jams.
C. The b-side brings along a more gentle vibe with the silky smooth King of the Beats. The groovy booty shaking feel to this track is bound to get the ladies on the dancefloor.
D. The final cut on this EP called You Know It goes down the same path, bringing on some classic vocals cuts in a vocoder disguise blended in a groovy disco production.
