Polperro. A Watercolour Project to download
A watercolour project to paint of Polperro harbour in Cornwall, England.
You can try this painting in just one colour, and also a full colour version
Polperro is a traditional Cornish fishing Village where most of the population were dependant on the sea in some way .Over the years people have settled here from far and wide and the tourist Industry is now a major addition to the local economy. Fishing boats still use the harbour, but many fewer than in years gone by.
The road down to the harbour is narrow. Hotels and guest houses scatter across the steep hillsides.
In bygone days smugglers used this sleepy harbour to guide ships onto the rocks, caught in fogs and strong tides. There is still an air of mystery and enchantment about the old harbour, especially on a misty day such as this when a sea fog hangs in the sky, waiting for the sun to burn it away. This was such a day in summer, when the sun filtered out colours, to simplify a painting but give it that special atmosphere. I decided to work with just the one colour for the first painting. The second painting instruction here is in full colour.
