The French and Indian War in New York
The French and Indian war, or the ‘First World War’ as Winston Churchill once proclaimed it, began in the North American backcountry and swiftly spread across the globe, changing the destiny of nations and empires as it expanded.
The then colony of New York was a pivotal region in this ‘Great War for Empire’, as European armies and their Native American allies launched raids and attacks aimed at establishing national primacy in what was a crucial theatre of a transnational war.
This DVD documents and examines the French and Indian War history of the major New York landmarks that, in various ways, played an important role in the course of British, French, American and indeed World history.
