The Pressure Point Guide for Martial Artists
The Pressure Point Guide for Martial Artists is John Burke's best-selling book. It features background information, but also just how to hit those elusive "pressure points" in an effective way.
This video was a 2-disc DVD, and is now available here as a download.
Damien Birch sensei of the Doryoku Ryu is here treated to a variety of strikes on pressure points, and as you will see from his reactions, there is no doubting that they worked.
Like all things, you cannot count on pressure points in a combative situation unless you train to use them. This video shows you how to use them, but be careful. Start slowly and learn the correct targets and metods of reaching them. Anything less than great care could lead to injury.
John Burke sensei has trained with American pressure point experts and senior martial artists from across the globe, and makes no bones about recommending the teacher who put it all into context for him: Russell Stutely sensei. Taking Russell's practical outlook and his own traditional background, you can see here how it begins to fit together.
